Osceola County, Iowa: Sibley Municipal Golf Course

Golf CourseSibley Golf and Country Club was once selected as the  9-Hole Course of the year by the Iowa Golf Association.

Steve Roseberry, Sibley golf course superintendent at the time, was informed of the honor by letter and was quoted by saying, "It's quite a surprise for us to win such a prestigious honor. What makes it even more of an honor is that this course has only been here since 1997, since the remodeling of the course was done. It's a testament to the work that our staff at the golf course does to get the course ready to play every day."

The course was rated one of the best in the area when it first re-opened, said Roseberry With the recognition that the course will receive as the 9-Hole Course of the Year in the State of Iowa, Roseberry is hopeful that even more people will try the course.

"When you receive an honor like this, you hope that it will bring in more people who want to play the course," he said. "Ever since we finished remodeling, people have been asking us if we're as good as the others that rave received awards like this. Now we can say we are and we can prove it. This will put Sibley on the map as far as the golfing community is concerned.”

"The work and cooperation of the Sibley Golf Commission and the Sibley City Council, both past and present members, has been important, said Roseberry. "They really worked well together to make this a top notch golf course," he said. "Without their efforts, and the efforts of the city employees, we wouldn't have been able to win such prestigious award."
